Winter Rockies Roadtrip

We have roughly 9 nights to travel from Vancouver to Calgary. This roadtrip was in May of 2025.

Vancouver

DO: pick up car, ride around the park, food-shop + bear bells and grampons

PITSTOPS: horse shoe bay, Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain

Squamish

STAY: adventure inn

DO: sea to sky gondola, the chief hike, Shannon falls

PITSTOPS: Joffre lake hike, pemberton wild horses, whistler - Peak 2 Peak Gondola and Ziptrekking

Night in whistler

After a road closer we stayed in Whistler for the night instead of Lillooet - It was nearing the end of Ski season so everything was still open and it was a good atmosphere. We just wandered the streets and left early the next morning for a long drive.

Revelstoke

STAY: VRGE Revelstoke

DO: giant cedars boardwalk

PITSTOPS: takakaw falls (closed when we went), wapta falls (highly recommend)

Lake Louise

DO: snowshoeing, ice skating, Fairview lookout, Emerald Lake, Natural Bridge

PITSTOPS: Beehive hike, Johnston canyon

Banff

DO: ski, tunnel mountain hike, farm and fire (the fig and camembert pizza was amazing), Fairmount golf course - ride bikes, Arashi Ramen, Sulfur mountain hike, Explore town, Vermillion lake - cold dip + heaps of wildlife, Tunnel mountain, Tube at Norquay

Canmore

STAY: The Lady Macdonald Country Inn

DO: Ha-Ling hike (sunrise), grassy lakes, explore town

PITSTOP: grotto canyon, opal ridge, king creek ridge , wolf dog sanctuary
